A Boy’s birthday
If it is a little boy’s birthday you can go for a basic square chocolate cake. If you want to have more fun, then think about his favourite cartoon or book characters. Think about what he likes to do. Does he like swimming, football, cricket or cars? Just think and you will get an answer. If he likes cricket you could make him a nice cricket pitch with his favourite players. You can make a rectangle or circle cake and give it a green frosting. A Grown-up’s birthday
If it’s a grown up’s birthday you can experiment with basic cakes or with foods in the cake that the person likes to eat. If the person’s birthday you are celebrating likes strawberries you can bake a strawberry cake. If he or she is a chocolate lover than nothing other than chocolate can make that person happier.  So just find out what that person prefers and use that ingredient as a flavour, ingredient or decoration on the cake.

Here’s an idea. If the person likes strawberries then use chunks of strawberry in the cake mix. Give it a butter cream frosting and layer it with a strawberry jelly coating. Decorate it with strawberries on the sides and top it with mint leaves. It will turn out to be an amazing strawberry cake.
